One of the best ways you can protect the environment is by making small changes in your daily life to reduce your carbon footprint. The Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program was created to help individuals and businesses save money and protect the climate through improving energy efficiency. Andersen® Corporation, the parent company of Renewal by Andersen®, has supported the program from the very beginning.
In this post, you’ll learn more about the ENERGY STAR rating, how our windows meet it, and the advantages of working with ENERGY STAR-certified contractors like us.
What Is ENERGY STAR?
The program identifies and promotes energy-efficient products and buildings to reduce energy consumption, reduce pollution and improve energy security. It achieves this through voluntary labeling and other forms of communication. The ENERGY STAR label communicates trust. This means that people can rely on the product to deliver superior energy efficiency.
Renewal by Andersen of Cape Cod is one of the few Cape Cod, MA, window companies that can offer you a full range of ENERGY STAR qualified products. Since these qualify under the strict standards and testing of the program, you can be sure of their quality. As part of the Andersen Corporation, Renewal by Andersen practices environmentally responsible manufacturing operations, sourcing and product design.

How Do Our Products Improve Your Home?
We manufacture our window frames from our proprietary composite material, Fibrex®. This innovative material combines the best qualities of vinyl and wood, giving you a window frame that’s durable, low-maintenance and extremely energy-efficient. Fibrex is an excellent insulator, creating a strong thermal barrier that prevents heat transfer. It’s also environmentally friendly. We manufacture Fibrex from at least 40% reclaimed wood fiber by weight. This has prevented the harvesting of nearly 90 million board feet of lumber.
Fibrex window frames are also very durable. These will not rot, chip, corrode, blister or peel. The baked-in color will also resist fading, so your windows will be beautiful for many years to come. As Fibrex is two times stronger than vinyl, this also means we can manufacture sleeker window frames with larger glass areas. Additionally, our Fibrex replacement windows have a natural resistance to heat gain thanks to Fibrex’s combination of real wood fibers and high-quality polymer. As such, a Fibrex frame absorbs and transfers less heat than wood or vinyl, making it a more energy-efficient choice for your home.
Our High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass packages make us unique among Cape Cod window contractors. This glass is more energy-efficient than regular glass and can save you up to 25% in your utility bills. It has a special low-emissivity coating that reflects heat back to where it came from. This helps keep your home’s interior temperature stable and comfortable. This also reduces the workload and energy consumption of your utility systems, saving you money.
Of all the window styles we offer, our casement windows benefit the most from our high-quality glazing because they feature large glass areas which would make your home vulnerable to UV light penetration without proper protective coatings. Our high-performance glass reduces UV light intrusion, protecting your furniture and other valuables. It also blocks infrared rays, helping to maintain good comfort levels on hot days.
Sustainability is a core value at the Andersen Corporation, which is also true for Renewal by Andersen. Our energy-efficient windows and doors will help you save money on your energy bills by reducing your home’s energy consumption. This helps conserve the planet’s natural resources.
