Renewal by Andersen® offers windows that are made of Fibrex®, an innovative composite material that counts long-term performance among its many advantages. Today, your local window company takes a look at how well the window frames age and perform for a very long time.
The Long-Term Durability Study
Manufacturers of building materials make it a point to have their products undergo various industry-approved standard tests to see how well they perform in real-world conditions before distribution. Most tests involve the products getting extended exposure to exposure to UV rays and temperature extremes, albeit simulations within a controlled environment.
Renewal by Andersen decided to take such tests up a notch through a long-term durability study. This was recently carried out to learn how well windows performed years since they were first installed. Here, they removed 10 double-hung windows from a customer’s home in Minnesota—a state widely known for its muggy summers and brutal winters—20 years after installation. They were taken back to the company’s facilities for analysis via extensive laboratory work.
According to the findings, the windows were found to be in almost perfect condition as the day they were installed 20 years ago. They showed no signs of warping, chipping, peeling, and cracking, as well as moisture damage and other hardware issues. This is one of the reasons why we offer a 20-year limited warranty on our Fibrex window frames and sashes.
The Wonderful Benefits of Fibrex
We all know about the durability of the Fibrex replacement windows as one of its striking characteristics. However, the composite material also lends the windows their exceptional beauty. It gives residential properties a classic look because of its natural wood composition but with the low maintenance qualities of vinyl.
Fibrex windows also provide better insulation. When combined with our Low-E4® glass packages, our windows can help you lower your energy bills. During manufacturing, the leftover materials used to create Fibrex frames can be reused and recycled. This contributes to fewer wastes thrown in landfills, preserving the environment.
